Making the Transition to Supervisor
In many ways, supervisors hold the keys to the success of a business. Supervisors are a key influence on employee productivity and retention. They possess firsthand knowledge of employee performance and perceptions. And, in the eyes of the employee, they are a representation the “company”. The challenges, however, that are introduced when moving an employee from coworker to supervisor are often not fully appreciated or recognized. As we “reward” high achieving employees with a promotion to supervisor, employers need to insure these key contributors are equipped to take on the significant role that has been handed to them. This session will educate participants on the significance of the supervisor role, provide insight on how to successfully navigate the transition to supervisor, and provide tips and tools for effectively leading a team.

Jean Roque is the founder and President of Trupp HR, a human resources company that provides HR consulting services, HR outsourcing, recruiting, and leadership development solutions for small to mid-sized organizations in the greater Portland-Vancouver metro area.
Jean has a passion for contributing to, and furthering the success of small business. Her straightforward yet strategic approach focuses on delivering HR services that are tailored to the unique needs, risks and business objectives of each organization while removing the complexity often associated with the HR function. Jean has extensive experience in executive management in the software, product development and manufacturing industries. Jean’s commitment to small business can be seen in her being an investor and active member of the Columbia River Economic Development Council (CREDC), the Central Eastside Industrial Council (CEIC) and sponsoring of the 2012 Startup PDX:Challenge.
Jean graduated from Warner Pacific College with a BS in Business Administration.
Tom Faricy is an HR Business Partner at Trupp HR, a human resources company that provides HR consulting services, HR outsourcing, recruiting, and leadership development solutions for small to mid-sized organizations in the greater Portland-Vancouver metro area.
Tom is a certified Senior Professional of Human Resources with over 15 years of experience successfully curating human resources in multi-facility organizations over several leadership teams. Tom has an impressive grasp of HR disciplines from recruitment and succession planning to performance management and employee development. His warm yet commanding presence has set the stage for his numerous executive coaching and training engagements. Tom has a gift for presenting complex topics in a thorough, yet approachable and easy to understand manner.
Tom graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Human Resources. He is a graduate of the Co-Active Coach and Leadership programs at The Coaches Training Institute. Tom is SPHR certified through the Human Resources Certification Institute.
