As part of its’ series of “resource” documents, the EEOC has recently released guidance for medical conditions and work restrictions of employees. This latest piece is titled “Depression, PTSD, and Other Mental Health Conditions in the Workplace: Your Legal Rights.” The intention of this document is to provide a related platform of guidance under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

2016 showed a significant spike in discrimination charges based on mental health conditions, necessitating the need for additional resources from the EEOC. The document includes information about the protection of those affected by mental health conditions against discrimination and harassment, the right to reasonable accommodation, and a number of examples on applicable workplace situations.
