Webinar: Employer obligations under state-mandated paid family and sick leave


Paid family leave programs were adopted earlier by states mainly along the West and East Coasts. However, these programs have become increasingly popular among many other states, and the federal government supports the implementation of a nationwide paid leave plan.

Employers are scrambling to understand how paid family leave interacts with state-mandated paid sick leave, FMLA, and state-protected leaves. This webinar will equip employers to understand multi-state paid family leaves, employer obligations, and the interaction between paid sick leave and other leave protections.  

After completing this course, the learner will:

  • Understand the fundamental elements of how paid family leave programs work.
  • Learn about each state’s requirements, including employee eligibility, payroll contributions, and quarterly reporting.
  • Understand the various qualifying reasons for taking paid family leave and paid sick leave.
  • Recognize the differences between FMLA, paid family leave, and other associated state-protected leave.
  • Learn how state leave laws intersect with the ADA.
